Senior Chief Pete Ming is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and enlisted in the Navy in March of 2003.  Following completion of Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, he attended Aviation Electrician Technician “A” school at Naval Aviation Training Command Pensacola, Florida.

Designated an Aviation Electrician he reported to his first duty assignment at Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO THREE, “Jolly Rogers”.  During his time there he would embark on two combat deployments in direct support of Operation “IRAQI FREEDOM” onboard the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CVN-67) for its farewell deployment in 2004.  Upon completion of the deployment, VF-103 transitioned from the F-14 platform to the new F/A-18 Super Hornet Platform.  After a seamless transition they again deployed in 2007 onboard the USS SWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) in support of Operation “ENDURING FREEDOM”.  He earned his Air Warfare Specialist qualification and advanced to Petty Officer Second Class.

In 2008 he reported to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE ZERO SIX “The Gladiators”.  He would spend three years there maintaining 50 aircraft averaging 24 sorties a day.  He did 21 detachments to Key West, El Centro and multiple Aircraft Carriers in direct support of Aircrew training for the Fleet.

Following this tour, in 2011 he reported to Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic Detachment Norfolk “SEA-OP DET”.  Upon checking into the command, he was immediately thrust into his third combat deployment onboard the USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77) for its maiden deployment in direct support of Operation “NEW DAWN” earning his Surface Warfare Specialist qualification.  He later advanced to Petty Officer First Class and assumed the roles and responsibilities as Leading Petty Officer of 600 Division.  He finished his tour with an around the world deployment onboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) in 2015.

In 2016, he reported to Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Detachment Mayport.  He was selected for Chief and pinned September 14th, 2018, and served as 600 Divisions Leading Chief Petty Officer.

Following Mayport in July of 2019, he reported to the Ragin’ Bulls of VFA-37 as a Division Chief, he then went to Maintenance Control and became Safe-for-Flight leading three detachments.  Following his maintenance control tour in 2021 he became the Line Division Leading Chief Petty Officer.

In 2022, Senior Chief Ming transferring to the world-famous Fleet Angels of HSC-2 where he was the AVARM Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and selected to Senior Chief in 2023.

In 2025, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and is currently assigned to the USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) in Norfolk Virginia.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University graduating Magna Cum Laude in June of 2012.  Senior Chief Ming’s personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), and numerous other campaign, service, and unit awards.
