SHIP IN THE SPOTLIGHT --
Congratulations to this week’s Military Sealift Command “Ship in the Spotlight,” USNS Robert E. Peary (T-AKE 5). Recently, Peary returned stateside, after a successful five-month deployment serving as the dry cargo and ordnance Combat Logistics Force vessel in U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility in support of Operation Southern Spear, a military and surveillance campaign focused on disrupting trafficking and protecting the U.S. Southern maritime boarder in the Caribbean.
Deployed for 154 days, the Peary established a benchmark for excellence, providing exceptional logistical support to the Navy’s warfighting ships. The crew flawlessly executed 64 at-sea replenishments, transferring and receiving 464,001 gallons of fuel, alongside 16 CONSOLS, 13 vertical- replenishments, and several personnel transfers. They also orchestrated the receipt, retrograde, and delivery of 12,899 critical pallets. Likewise, they showcased their interagency support by providing on-time replenishment services to the U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Interdiction Operations. Job well done!
