IWAKUNI, Japan (July 19, 2021) Personnel with the 836th Transport Battalion, Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), load cargo onto the USNS Fisher aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, July 19, 2021, as part of ORIENT SHEILD 21-2 (OS21-2). OS 21-2 is the largest field training exercise in Japan between the U.S. Army and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), including approximately 1,400 U.S. personnel and 1,600 JGSDF personnel. MCAS Iwakuni is uniquely positioned to support such an exercise because of the station’s co-located airfield and deep-water port. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Darien Wright)
