PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 3, 2024) Sailors aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) hold the phone-and-distance line during a replenishment-at-sea with the Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 14). The phone-and-distance line is used to measure distances between ships while transferring items and fuel. Sterett is assigned to Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1 and deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
