U.S. Marines and Sailors from III Marine Expeditionary Force units muster after disembarking the High-Speed Transport ship USNS Guam (T-HST-1) during a 3rd Marine Logistics Group offload operation as part of Freedom Banner 25 at Pohang Port, South Korea, March 1, 2025. 3rd MLG offloaded and transported approximately 900 Marines and Sailors with III MEF units along with vehicles and logistical equipment from the HST in a single day, inprocessing the forces pier-side before travel to various locations across South Korea to join previously-staged forces in preparation for the Korean Marine Exchange Program training evolution. This year’s U.S./Republic of Korea training exercises have more U.S. Marine Corps personnel training with their ROK allies in-country than in the past seven years, speaking to the importance of strengthening warfighting and contingency response capabilities between the two countries. Freedom Banner 25 is a Maritime Prepositioning Force exercise where 3rd MLG offloads equipment and provides support to III MEF units training throughout South Korea, testing and validating 3rd MLG’s ability to conduct integrated logistics operations in complex environments.
