Force Master Chief Steven W. Bosco, a native of Bayshore, New York, enlisted in the United States Navy through the delayed entry program in October 1993 and reported to basic training in Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, in January 1994. Following completion of basic training, he completed Torpedoman “A” School.

In July 1994, Master Chief Bosco reported to the Weapons Facility in Point Loma, California. It was during this tour he volunteered for submarine duty. Upon completion of Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut, he reported to USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720) in October 1995. While attached to Pittsburgh, he completed three Mediterranean Deployments. In January 2001, Master Chief Bosco transferred to his first shore tour, Performance Monitoring Team New London, where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2002.

Master Chief Bosco returned to sea duty in February 2004 aboard the USS Seawolf (SSN 21), where he completed two Western Pacific Deployments including an under ice transit. In January of 2009, he transferred to COMSUBDEVRON 5, where he served as the Weapons Assistant and earned the Deep Submergence Insignia, advanced to Senior Chief, and qualified Chief of the Boat.

Master Chief Bosco graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy in September 2012 and reported to USS Alabama (SSBN-731) (BLUE) to serve as Chief of the Boat. During his tour, Alabama completed three nuclear deterrent patrols and earned two consecutive COMSUBRON 17 Strategic “S” and three consecutive Retention Excellence awards. In addition, he was selected to Master Chief and selected into the Command Master Chief program. He served on the staff of Commander, Submarine Squadron 15 as the Command Master Chief, on the staff of Commander, Submarine Group Seven as the Command Master Chief and most recently served on the staff of Commander, Submarine Forces as the Submarine Force Master Chief.

His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
