Capt. Daniel E. Broadhurst

Capt. Broadhurst is originally from Connecticut. He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1998. He received a Master's Degree in Organizational Management from The George Washington University in 2005.
At sea, Capt. Broadhurst served aboard USS
Klakring (FFG 42) and USS
Vicksburg (CG 69) for his division officer tours in Operations and Engineering Departments from 1999 to 2003. In his department head tours, he served as Chief Engineer in USS
Cole (DDG 67) and Warfare Readiness Officer in Destroyer Squadron Two Three (DESRON 23) from 2006 to 2009.
Capt. Broadhurst served as Executive Officer in USS
Stout (DDG 55) from September 2015 to January 2016, deploying to Fifth Fleet with Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group. He then served as Commanding Officer from May 2017 to August 2018.
His shore tours include the Navy Washington D.C. Intern Program from 2003-2005. He served at OPNAV Strategy and Concepts (N513), The Joint Staff's Strategic Concepts branch (J-5), and the Political-Military Affairs bureau at the Department of State. He returned to the Pentagon as a Ship Program Analyst in OPNAV Programming Division (N80) from 2009 to 2011. He then served in The Joint Staff J-8 as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director for Resources and Acquisition, and as a Defense Resource Manager in Program and Budget Analysis Division until 2014. Following his command tour, he reported to the Secretary of the Navy's Office of Budget, serving as the Surface Warfare budget analyst and later Deputy Director for Investment and Development (FMB-2). He is a 2021 graduate of National Defense University's Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.
His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various personal, unit, and service awards.
