Captain Jamie Murdock is a native of Ticonderoga, NY. A graduate of the University of Florida, he received his commission through Officer Candidate School, Pensacola Florida in 1999.

He served at seas as the Damage Control Assistant and Navigator in Pre-Commissioning crew of USS HOWARD (DDG 83), Engineer Officer in USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) and USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71). He was awarded the 2007 CNSF Navy and Marine Corps Association Leadership Award and the Naval Academy Class of ’76 Leadership Award while serving as a Department Head.

He has served as Commanding and Executive Officer of USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98), completing two deployments to the FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet Areas of Operation with the THEODORE ROOSEVELT Carrier Strike Group and the HARRY S. TRUMAN Carrier Strike Group, serving as the Alternate Air Warfare Commander in HSTCSG. FORREST SHERMAN was awarded the Battle “E” and Chezek Memorial Gunnery Award under his command.

Ashore, CAPT Murdock served in the Office of the Dean of Students at the Naval War College, in the Office of Legislative Affairs Program Office as the Fleet Readiness Liaison to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees; as Detailer in PERS-411, Surface Commander and LCDR/CDR/Command At-Sea Assignments, at Navy Personnel Command; as Director, Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Detachment Little Creek; and as Warfare Development Fusion Branch Head, Strategic Plans and Policy, North Atlantic Treaty Organization - Allied Command Transformation, Norfolk, VA.

In addition to his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, History, and Criminal Justice from the University of Florida, he also has a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

CAPT Murdock’s decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various individual, unit, and campaign awards.
