Senior Chief Petty Officer Andrew R. Werner is a native of Lafayette, Ind. and enlisted in the Navy in March, 2002.
He reported for duty to USS Princeton (CG 59) in San Diego, Calif. in 2002. On USS Princeton he deployed three times with Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (Nimitz CSG).
In 2007, he reported to Navy Recruiting District Nashville as an enlisted recruiter in Memphis, Tenn., enlisting over 90 future Sailors. In 2010, he reported to USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) in Mayport, Fla., and while on The Sullivans he deployed five times and was promoted to Petty Officer First Class. In 2015, he transferred to Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa, where he conducted Port Operations at White Beach Naval Facility, where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
After Okinawa, he was assigned to USS Carney (DDG 64) in Rota, Spain and completed four patrols and one deployment. While USS Carney’s homeport shifted back to Mayport, Fla., Werner was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. Now at Military Sealift Command Far East he is the Senior Enlisted Leader and boarding officer for MSCFE.
His awards include Navy Commendation Medal, third award; Navy Achievement Medal, tenth award; and a Humanitarian Service Medal.
