MSC Office Korea

MSCO Korea provides operations, logistics, maintenance, and administrative support for all MSC operated, controlled, and interest vessels in support of the Type Commander and/or as directed by the Area Commander in support of the Fleet Commander.

Commander Hannah Shipp

Commander Hannah Shipp is a native of Queens, New York. Upon graduation from the State University of New York Maritime College in 2008, she was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program.

At sea, her assignments include First Lieutenant and Repair Officer in USS McCampbell (DDG 85) from 2008-2011, Navigator in USS Cowpens (CG 63) then hull-swapped to USS Antietam (CG 54) from 2011-2013, First Lieutenant in USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) from 2016-2018, and N4 Materiel & Logistics Officer for Commander, Amphibious Squadron Eleven (CPR 11) from 2018-2020.

Ashore, she attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. from 2015-2016, receiving her Master of Business Administration in Financial Management. From 2020-2023, she served as the Director of Training (N7) at Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii . Most recently, Shipp was the executive officer of Military Sealift Command Office - Korea.

Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and multiple unit and service awards.

Lieutenant Kim was born and raised in Daejeon, South Korea as the youngest of four sons in 1997 and immigrated to the United States with his family of six in 2006.

He graduated from Norwich University in 2019 with honors in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and received his commission through the NROTC.

Prior to reporting to his first duty station, he completed Basic Division Officer Course and Junior Officer of the Deck Course at SWOS Learning Site in San Diego, CA.

Lt. Kim’s initial sea tour was on board USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53) based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, from February 2020 to May 2022. Onboard he served as Communications Division Officer and deployed to 5th Fleet from September 2020 to May 2021 in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and conducted multiple BMD task missions before conducting her Home Port Shift to Everett, WA in August 2021.

Following his 1st sea tour, he attended OOD Phase II and Advanced Division Officer Course in Newport, RI, and Amphibious Warfare Indoctrination Course and SSDS Watch Officer’s course in San Diego, CA before reporting to USS AMERICA (LHA 6) in September 28, 2022.

Onboard USS AMERICA, Lt. Kim served as the Fire Control Officer and also as the Assistant Senior Watch Officer from MAR 2023 to MAY 2025, managing various Junior Officers Qualification trainings and command watchbills. He has completed four FDNF-Japan patrols which include multiple IRON FIST exercises with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, multinational exercise TALISMAN SABRE 2023, Papua New Guinea HADR Operation 2023, 73rd Incheon Landing Commemoration and SSANG YONG 24 with the Republic of Korea Navy.

Ashore, he now serves as the Executive Officer of MSC Office Korea at Pier 8 Busan, Korea.

Lieutenant Kim’s awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Citation, and various other personal and unit awards.

Senior Chief Petty Officer Koirala was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. He migrated to the United States in 2004 and immediately entered the U.S. Navy attending basic training in Great Lakes, Ill. in July 2004. He attended Seaman Apprentice School in Great Lakes Ill., and his first duty assignment was with Assault Craft Unit Two in Little Creek, Va., where he spends first four years of his naval career working onboard Landing Craft Utilities.
 
His follow on assignment was the USS Frank Cable where he worked as a Deck 2nd Div. leading petty officer. In September 2010, Koirala reported to Surface Combat System Center, Wallops Island, Va. where he assumed duty as supply leading petty officer.
 
In September 2013, he was advanced to chief petty officer and assigned to Naval Beach Unit Seven. He successfully completed his time at Naval Beach Unit Seven as Beach Party Team Department leading chief petty officer and Landing Craft Utility Departmental leading chief petty officer. In June 2021, he reported to Military Sealift Command Office Korea where he currently serves as the senior enlisted leader. 
 
Koirala’s academic achievement includes a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Tribhuwan University of Nepal. He is currently enrolled with AMU pursuing his degree in International Relation.
 
Senior Chief Koirala’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
