WE ARE MSC --
We Are MSC – Joshua Bullock – Third Officer
This week’s “We Are MSC” highlights Los Alamos, New Mexico native Joshua Bullock. He is a Third Officer aboard fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196).
How long have you worked with MSC?
Bullock: I have been working with MSC since September 2023.
What is your job aboard USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196)?
Bullock: As a day working Third Officer, I support the Chief Mate and Deck Department with day-to-day operations and maintenance.
How important is USNS Kanawha to the fleet?
Bullock: It is incredibly important not just as a ship but as a crucial lifeline at sea. As part of MSC’s Combat Logistics Force, Kanawha enables Navy warships to stay out at sea longer to fight and respond at a moment’s notice. By eliminating the need for frequent, time-consuming port visits, the Kanawha provides the logistical support necessary to extend the Navy’s reach and endurance, making her an indispensable asset to the fleet.
What do you enjoy most about working with MSC?
Bullock: What I enjoy the most about working with MSC is the people I get to meet and the ports we get to visit. The people I meet teach me how to be a better leader, while the ports allow me to experience other cultures. I also enjoy supporting the Chief Mate and the Deck Department in day-to-day operations.
