Ship in the Spotlight
This week’s Military Sealift Command “Ship in the Spotlight,” is fleet replenishment oiler USNS Guadalupe (T-AO 200), which recently returned to San Diego following a deployment to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth and Seventh Fleet’s areas of operation. While on deployment, USNS Guadalupe provided logistics support to the USS Carl Vinson and USS Nimitz carrier strike groups, as well as the British Royal Navy’s HMS Prince of Wales carrier strike group. USNS Guadalupe traveled nearly 30 thousand nautical miles, delivering 30 million gallons of diesel ship and aviation fuel, and 800 pallets of dry stores through 33 replenishment-at-sea evolutions. Deployments like these allow sustainment of critical, mission essential assets forward deployed around the world.
