Ship in the Spotlight
This week's Ship in the Spotlight is USNS GySgt Fred W. Stockham (T-AK 3017), which will be retired from naval service following 28 years of service to the United States of America. Named in honor of World War I veteran and Medal of Honor recipient GySgt Fred W. Stockham, USMC, the vessel was tasked throughout its illustrious career with providing logistical support for the United States Marine Corps and larger Department of Defense community. In 2022, USNS Stockham delivered valuable wartime aid to European allies in the face of military aggression. Called to service in Gaza at the request of the President in 2024, USNS Stockham again brilliantly performed its duties in supporting the Joint Force. To the USNS GySgt Fred W. Stockham and all the mariners who served onboard, Commander Military Sealift Command wishes you a hearty Bravo Zulu for a job well done! Fair winds and following seas, shipmates. We have the watch.
